Public Hearing - Sewer Rate Increase RESOLUTION AMENDING PARAGRAPH 3 OF RESOLUTION NO. 7529, RELATING TO SANITARY SEWERAGE CHARGES ACTION TAKEN (continued) PUBLIC HEARINGS (continued) Report of City Manager, Director of Public Works and Acting Director of Finance 8/4/82 Jim Bewley, General Manager, South Bayside System Authority (SBSA) used overhead projections to illustrate operating costs of the new treatment plant. In response to questions regarding the differences in sewer rates among member cities, City Manager Smith advised that the cost of treatment is the same for each city, but in Redwood City the cost is more than in San Carlos because our collection system is old, and the Redwood Shores portion of the City requires the use of expensive pumps, because gravity flow is not possible. Mr. Smith observed that in San Carlos the collection system is newer and few, if any, pumps are required, making collection costs lower. Menlo Park collection costs are about the same as in Redwood City and for West Bay Sanitary District such costs are the highest. Discussion followed concerning the importance of the matter to the City and the desirability of having all Council members present for the full presentation. M/S: Rhodes/Claire to continue consideration of the proposed sewer ra te increase until the meeting of August 23, 1982 when all Council members are expected to be present.
