<br />Item No.1 (cont i nued) <br /> <br />Resident, 949 Stony Hill Road, reported using the alley almost every evening <br />in walking to Stulsaft Park and is opposed to closing it. <br /> <br />Robert Wassick, 931 Stony Hill Road, suggested that closing the walkway will <br />create hardship for users of Stulsaft Park, acknowledging that adjacent <br />property owners may have problems because of it and that he would not want <br />it next to his property. <br /> <br />William Jackson, 3743 Country Club, one of those requesting abandonment of <br />the walkway, described experiences of the petitioners and urged that the <br />walkway be abandoned. ' <br /> <br />Jim Luttrell, 902 Pleasant Hill, stated he is in favor of closing the <br />walkway and suggested the inconvenience to those who oppose closing is <br />minimal compared to the misery suffered by the adjacent property owners. <br /> <br />Mayor Stangel invited anyone else present who wished to speak to do so. <br />one wished to speak. <br /> <br />No <br /> <br />M/S: Biagi/Claire to close the public hearing. <br />Carried unanimously and public hearing closed at 8:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Discussion followed and Director of Public Works Addiego replied to <br />questions and commented regarding the general trend to eliminate walkways <br />because of problems being encountered; the difficulties related to policing <br />and maintenance of walkways; the proposed conditions for abandonment <br />requi red of the adj acent property owners who have requested it; the need to <br />retain utility easements; the prospective benefit to adjacent property <br />owners when walkway property is transferred to them; whether there is any <br />salvage value in the street light which must be removed; and the work <br />involved in its removal. <br /> <br />Title read. <br /> <br />M/S: <br /> <br />Britschgi/Mosher <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9247 VACATING PUBLIC SERVICE EASEMENT (WALKWAY) IN THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH PART 3 OF DIVISION 9, STREETS AND <br />HIGHWAYS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA; and <br /> <br />with deletion of prop?sed paragraph 1.
