<br />:- . " <br /> <br />Stulsaft Committee - Commissioner Weiss said he had met with David <br />Crevelt who resides on Mitchell Way close to Stulsaft Park. Mr. <br />Crevelt offered to contact neighbors in the next couple months to <br />see if they were interested in getting together with one of the <br />Commissioners to discuss the clean-up day on October 15. He thought <br />that the neighbors might be willing to provide coffee on that day. <br /> <br />Commissioner Weiss said the areas that the Committee would like to <br />address for the clean-up were the BBQ's, parking lot, picnic areas <br />and play apparatus. Councilwoman LaBerge suggested inviting the <br />Rotary Club to the clean-up day. <br /> <br />Item 1 - USE OF SYNTHETIC TURF AREA AT RED MORTON COMMUNITY PARK <br /> <br />Al Rollins, Senors Softball League again presented his request for <br />interim use of the synthetic turf at the vacated 4ger facility. He <br />also stated the Senors were looking for a permanent field to use <br />year round. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />M/S ,Mortensen/Anderson that the Park and Recreation <br />Commission authorize the interim use of the synthetic turf <br />in Red Morton Community Park for the Senors Softball <br />League. <br /> <br />Discussion followed and Director Griffiths explained that no funds <br />had been budgeted for such use and that broken windows at the <br />vacated 4ger building and balls going into Herkner Pool should be <br />considered. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Commissioner Nordness moved to table the motion; this motion died <br />for lack of a second. <br /> <br />Commissioner Mortensen amended the motion as follows: <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />M/S Mortensen/Anderson that the Park and Recreation <br />Commission authorize the interim use of the synthetic turf <br />in Red Morton Community Park for the Senors Softball League <br />at no cost to the city and subject to feasibility by the <br />Director of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. <br /> <br />Motion approved 4 - 1. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - UNION CEMETERY <br /> <br />The Commission discussed Anita Spangler's request to change the name <br />of Union Cemetery. <br /> <br />MOTION: <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />M/S Anderson/Weiss to change the name of Union Cemetery to <br />Union Cemetery Historic Site. <br /> <br />Motion approved unanimously. <br /> <br />Regarding proposed ordinance changes specific to historic sites, <br />Director Griffiths said a separate category in the city ordinance <br />would have to be created. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
