6/2/92 CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> LIFEGUARD II <br /> DEFINITION <br /> Under supervision, the Lifeguard II performs as a swimming instructor: <br /> teaching basic, intermediate, and advanced swim strokes and water safety <br /> skills; supervises recreational swim periods. <br /> DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> Lifeguard II is responsible to perform as a swimming instructor and/or <br /> pool lifeguard. Lifeguard II duties may include but are not limited to <br /> a great variety of aquatic activities such as recreational swimming <br /> supervision, instruction of basic, intermediate, and advanced swim <br /> strokes, as well as water safety courses; enforcement of water safety <br /> regulations. <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Receives general supervision from Recreation Supervisor. Direct <br /> supervision is also provided by Swimming Pool Manager. <br /> May exercise technical or functional supervision over less experienced <br /> personnel . <br /> EXAMPLE OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the <br /> following: <br /> Instructs small groups and interprets basic to advanced swimming <br /> strokes and water safety skills. <br /> Prevents accidents through enforcement of policies, rules, regulations, <br /> and ordinances governing conduct of persons at a swimming pool . <br /> Maintains order and discipline at pool facility. <br /> Assists in the preparation and maintenance of necessary records, <br /> schedules and reports. <br /> Warns patrons against dangerous practices at the pool . <br /> QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Knowledge of: <br /> Basic, intermediate, and advanced strokes and water safety skills <br /> and the ability to teach same to patrons. <br /> Principals and practices of swimming pool hygiene and sanitation. <br /> Exhibit "B" <br /> .. ......._.......... <br />
