Exhibit "A" <br /> 4-27-92 <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> COLLECTION MANAGEMENT SUPE ,VISOi <br /> DEFINITION <br /> To plan, organize, direct and supervise the department-wide Collection Management Division, <br /> including the library materials acquisitions sub-program;to design and implement methods for <br /> evaluating collection use patterns; to develop department-wide collection management policy <br /> responsive to community needs; to direct and supervise the activities of library professional <br /> personnel in the selection and deselection of library materials; to allocate the library acquisitions <br /> budget for the purchase of all library materials according to media.and subject categories; to <br /> manage relations and contracts with vendors of library materials <br /> SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br /> Receives general direction from the Library Director. <br /> Exercises direct supervision over paraprofessional technical and clerical staff. <br /> Exercises indirect supervision over professional and managerial staff in relation to collection <br /> management duties. <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: <br /> Develop, plan and implement Collection Management Division goals and objectives;develop and <br /> administer collection management policies and procedures department-wide. <br /> Direct the acquisitions of all materials for library collections; allocate funds from the library <br /> materials budget and monitor expenditures. <br /> Prepare and submit budget recommendation for Division; develop cost estimates and justifications <br /> for budget items; authorize and control expenditures; determine allocations for materials <br /> categories. <br /> Establish and maintain vendor relationships; investigate and select supply sources for library <br /> materials; negotiate terms for purchase agreements; monitor vendor performance. <br /> //735- <br /> J7,3 5 <br />
