Manager Hannon mentioned <br />that Messiah Lutheran Church has contacted the department about using their <br />parking lot as a possible skate park site. <br /> <br />The following items were taken out of order: <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UNION CEMETERY UPDATE <br /> <br />Manager Ramon Aguilar handed out a draft "Cultural Resources Procedures and <br />Guidelines for Union Cemetery Historic Site" to the Commissioners for their <br />review and comment. He noted that this document will be given to the HUCA <br />Board of Directors next week. The document is to assist in the restoration and <br />maintenance of Union Cemetery. Manager Aguilar mentioned that five Eagle <br />Scout projects have been completed at Union Cemetery. The Commissioners <br />discussed the document and the need to have a clear procedure that would be <br />followed when making repairs to the site. <br /> <br />Commissioner Truscelli asked about installing another entrance to the cemetery <br />close to the Union Soldier statue. She also commended Manager Ramon <br />Aguilar for this work on Union Cemetery. Manager Aguilar felt that the <br />department has developed a good partnership with HUCA and Boy Scout Troop <br />#991 in maintaining the site. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - STRATEGIC PLANNING COMMITTEE UPDATE <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope handed out copies of the February 16 meeting minutes of <br />the Strategic Planning Sub-Committee, the community meeting agenda, and a <br />survey/report card which will be handed out to participants at the community <br />meetings. Flyers and press releases have been sent out and a great turnout is <br />anticipated. Chairperson Davis thanked Commissioner Joseph for her efforts in <br />getting the flyers and press releases out to the public. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - MADDUX PARK RENOVATION <br /> <br />Chairperson Davis reported that approximately 50-100 adults and 50 children <br />attended the Maddux Park Renovation meeting on February 12 which was <br />facilitated by Tim Gilbert of MIG, Inc. Chairperson Davis and Commissioner <br />Swope spoke about the meeting and what amenities the public would like to see <br />in the park renovation. The Maddux Park community group is assisting in <br />fund raising efforts and they have also developed a website for the project. The <br />next step in the process will be to have a subseque,nt meeting where the public <br />will review the preliminary park design. <br /> <br />ITEM 5- CANADA GEESE ISSUE IN REDWOOD SHORES <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reported on a meeting that he and Manager Mike Payne <br />attended in Fremont concerning Canada geese. Over 80 people attended this <br />meeting including a staff member of the Department of the Interior and two <br />members of the State Department of Fish and Game.
