<br />- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />oj <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, MAY 24, 2000 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Davis, Commissioners Joseph, <br />LaBerge, Swope, and Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Morton and Slusser <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Matt Walsh <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Don Davis at 7:33pm in Room 5 at the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The April minutes were approved as mailed I <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />The following correspondence was received: <br />-A newsletter from the Santa Clara County Audibon Society <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - GARFIELD SCHOOL WINDMILL REPORT <br /> <br />Commissioner Jeri Joseph reported there are no grant funds available at the <br />Redwood City School District for the moving or renovation of the windmill. <br />She stated that Chairperson Davis and she attended a recent meeting of the <br />Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC) to obtain support of this <br />project. The HRAC passed a motion to support the project by helping with <br />restoration, research, and having experts look at the windmill. Jean Cloud <br />will be the representative of the HRAC involved on the project. <br />Commissioner Joseph spoke about having a booth at the 4th of July to help <br />obtain community involvement and donations for the restoration. She said <br />that Charles Jany was there when the windmill was moved the first time and <br />was very supportive of the project. Commissioner Joseph announced we <br />tried to move the windmill today but were unsuccessful. Superintendent <br />Hover has obtained the name of the mover who moved the windmill the first <br />time and will try to reach them for additional assistance. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - REDWOOD SHORES TREE UPDATE <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover explained that Redwood City has been given the <br />approval from the County to participate in an early release wasp program. <br />
