<br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of August 23, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />-Windmill Update <br />Vice Chairperson Joseph reported that she has been attending the monthly <br />meetings of the Historic Resources Advisory Committee which has been very <br />supportive of the windmill project. Total donations received to date total <br />$822.00. She noted that the Independent Newspaper wrote an editorial in <br />support of the project. Proposed location for the windmill is behind the <br />Community Activities Building. She stated that volunteers are coming <br />forward to work on the project and a group will be coming together to work <br />on this project. Vice Chairperson Joseph requested that a thank you letter be <br />sent to Bob Wallace for storing the pinwheel of the windmill at his house. <br /> <br />.Park Tour - Saturday, October 14, 2000 <br />The park tour is still on schedule for Saturday, October 14. Councilmember <br />Diane Howard called to state she will be unable to attend the tour because <br />she will be on vacation. The agenda is being finalized at this time and will <br />include lunch and the tour to follow. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Nominations for the Mayor's Beautification Awards are due by August 31; <br />forms are available at the department. <br />-"Understanding the Brown Act" document was forwarded to each of the <br />Commissioners. Superintendent Hover reminded everyone to please read <br />this important information. <br />-A copy of a letter to AI Diaz written by Superintendent Hover was provided <br />to the Commissioners; the letter confirmed that the new Stafford Park <br />restroom is 19" closer than the old restroom. <br />-Vice Chairperson Joseph provided each Commissioner a copy of her notes <br />from the Commission training she attended in July. She suggested that <br />members of our Commission attend the meetings of the San Mateo County <br />Park Commission and that they attend our meetings. She is planning on <br />attending their October meeting and will report back. <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br />at 9:40pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2000 <br />to be held at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, <br />Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />t.,': <br />,-,., <br />I:,: . <br />t <br />~.. <br />~: <br />,:" <br />, <br /> <br />- <br />
