The project is due to be completed in <br />December 2000. The Stulsaft Park Fundraising Group has raised $1,720.00 <br />with paver and tile sales at their recent Saturday event. Vice Chairperson <br />Joseph thanked Park Manager Valerie Matonis for her support and reported <br />on the fund raising to date. Commissioner Morton suggested the Commission <br />send a thank you letter to the fund raising group for their efforts. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - PARK INSPECTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reminded the Commissioners that the objectives of <br />this program are to have each Commissioner visit their assigned park once <br />per quarter and to give the Commissioners a chance to talk with park users <br />at each site. He reported that staff appreciates the input from the <br />Commissioners' park inspection reports. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-School Fields <br />Superintendent Hover reported that Taft School fields are in a 90 day <br />maintenance period and they should be our maintenance responsibility by <br />mid-January 2001. He would like to hold off opening the fields until May <br />2001 and Chairperson Davis suggested preparing signage for the field to <br />advise the public. Superintendent Hover will have a meeting with the sports <br />groups to ask for their help on this matter. There was discussion about adult <br />soccer groups which are not organized and their usage of the field. Mr. <br />Santos and Mr. Stuart will be contacted for assistance in this matter. <br />Superintendent Hover stated that our goal is to make sure the field is weir <br />maintained. He will e-mail pictures of Taft Field to the Commissioners. <br /> <br />-Skate Park <br />Acting director Centeno gave an updated on negotiations with the NFL Alumni <br />Association. Chairperson Davis asked staff to look at skate parks in both <br />Truckee and Santa Cruz. Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor Adilah <br />Haqq-Smith will provide the Commission with an update at the November <br />meeting. <br /> <br />-Adopt-a..Park <br />Vice Chairperson Joseph reported that Roy Cloud School has decided to adopt <br />Stulsaft Park and wants to be part of the dedication, and they would also like <br />to plant flowers and a tree at the park.
