They would like to organize an activity every two weeks. -Windmill Project Vice Chairperson Joseph reported that the windmill model has been moved to the Veterans Memorial Senior Center on Madison Avenue. Signs will be added to the model listing how people can get involved in the project. A topographic survey has been done of the proposed site which is near the gardeners' shed at 1400 Roosevelt Avenue. Almost $2,000.00 has been raised so far for this project. Vice Chairperson Joseph will be setting up a fundraiser and asked for input on dates for the event. Chairperson Davis felt we need expertise in restoration and suggested perhaps the Historic Resources Advisory Committee may be able to provide a resource. Superintendent Hover, Vice Chairperson Joseph and Architect Morton Frank met and decided not to have the windmill actually pump water. They discussed grant resources and the need to form a committee. The goal is to restore the windmill to its original state taking into effect current seismic requirements. Mr. Frank should be producing a conceptual plan and the Historic Resources Advisory Committee is being kept in the loop by Vice Chairperson Joseph. The Windmill Committee will consist of Chairperson Davis, Vice Chairperson Joseph and Commissioner Walsh; Commissioner LaBerge will be an alternate. -Strategic Planning Superintendent Hover reported the strategic planning process is waiting for the selection of the new director. He discussed the selection process and that Chairperson Davis will be on the assessment center. -Capital Projects Superintendent Hover reported on the following capital projects: -Valota Restroom - bid awarded last week -HVAC at Veterans Senior Center - will be approved on November 6 by Council; noise issues are yet to be dealt with -Water Feature on Red Morton 2 Restroom - no money to build it at this point; we need to re-program; the public has been advised that we will have a water feature at the site -Garfield Field - Peter Griffiths is working on this project which has been held up by the School District because of the decision to place school portables on the site -School Playgrounds - City will be providing $500,000 for this project. Superintendent Hover spoke around the plans and specifications among the committee. Our role on this School District Project will be to see that our money is spent as it should be. There is a plan on how to divide the fund among the schools and how to deal with the middle schools. Superintendent Hover got agreement on establishing a contingency for this project.
