<br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of January 24, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />asked the Commissioners to send her questions for Mr. Biederman and <br />topics/interests to discuss at the meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - RESTROOM POLICIES <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover prepared a update report on restroom policy for the <br />Commissioners' review. He spoke about a new unisex portable restroom <br />which costs $36,000 and includes connection and delivery costs. He also <br />reported on a male/female 2-single stall restroom which costs $50,500. He <br />was impressed with the quality of both units and felt Maddux and Stulsaft <br />would be excellent locations for portable restrooms. The two-stall unit will be <br />installed at Stulsaft and the unisex unit will be installed at Maddux. <br /> <br />MIS LaBerge/Davis: To approve staff's recommendation on <br />restrooms. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />ITEM 8 - DISCUSSION ON PARK RESERVATIONS PROGRAM <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover provided the Commissioners with a memo regarding a <br />proposed park reservations program which will involve a test program of the <br />covered picnic area behind the Community Activities Building. He announced <br />the test program could begin in February and signs are currently being <br />developed for the area. Park patrons would make reservations through the <br />CAB office, there would be no fee to the applicants, and the Police <br />Department would handle enforcement issues. <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the importance of educating the public on this <br />test program in addition to publicity and posting of signs. The <br />Commissioners agreed to hold the test program which would begin in Spring <br />2001 and asked for a report update. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Chairperson Joseph and Superintendent Hover spoke about a meeting of the <br />Downtown Area Plan Task Force they attended on January 17. Minutes of the <br />meeting were provided to the Commissioners. Chairperson Joseph is the <br />Commission liaison to this committee. <br /> <br />-Commissioners were given the Park Inspection assignments for the period of <br />January through March 2001. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Joseph spoke about the recent newspaper article about Union <br />Cemetery. <br />
