<br />" <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of Febrnary 28, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />stated this project will go to City Council on March 26 and she agreed to keep <br />the Commission up to date on the project. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - PARTNERING WITH SAN MATEO COUNTY PARK Be. <br />RECREATION COM MISSION <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph introduced Rich Beiderman, chairperson of the San Mateo <br />County Park and Recreation Commission. Mr. Beiderman explained the <br />. County's commissioners are appointed by the Board of Supervisors and are <br />responsible all County parks including the unincorporated areas of the <br />County. Mr. Beiderman is interested in having the County's Park and <br />Recreation Commission partner with other cities and agencies and a <br />foundation has been established to assist in this process. He spoke about <br />some of the ways the County Commission has worked with other agencies, <br />organizations and schools to upgrade park equipment and design parks. <br />Commissioner Davis suggested working with the County Commission on <br />developing playing fields. Chairperson Joseph asked about partnering with <br />our department on our summer day camp at Edgewood Park. The San Mateo <br />County Park and Recreation Commission meets on the first Thursday each <br />month at 2: 30pm at the Board of Supervisors Chambers. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - DOWNTOWN TASK FORCE UPDATE - WALTER MOORE <br /> <br />Downtown Task Force Member Walter Moore spoke on the formation of the <br />task force and its purpose. He invited the Commission to attend an <br />information gathering session this Saturday, March 3 and also asked the <br />Commission for its suggestions in developing downtown. Suggestions <br />included: the need for more park space in the downtown area; utilizing <br />Mezes Park because of its close proximity to downtown; amphitheater or <br />gathering space; including San Mateo County courthouse <br />renovation/reconstruction in the development process. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - STULSAFT PARK PLAY AREA DEDICATION - SATURDAY, <br />MARCH 31, 2001 <br /> <br />The Commissioners were advised the Stulsaft Park dedication will take place <br />on Saturday, March 31, 2001. Superintendent Hover gave an update of the <br />project and discussed whether the park should be opened prior to the <br />dedication or if we should wait until the dedication to open the park. The <br />Commissioners discussed the matter and decided to wait to open the park <br />until the day of the dedication. <br /> <br />MIS Truscelli/Davis: To open Stulsaft Park the same day as the <br />ded ¡cation. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
