<br />. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of July 25, 2001 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />-Strategic Plan <br />Commissioner Swope reported that Director Centeno has completed an <br />outline of the strategic plan and the committee will be meeting very soon. <br />Director Centeno announced that the department has purchased a Power <br />Point projector which will be used in making our presentations. <br /> <br />-Maddux Pa rk <br />Director Centeno stated that the bids went back out on Maddux Park and <br />hopefully will come back in closer to budget. <br /> <br />-4th of July Float <br />Chairperson Joseph thanked Commissioner Walsh for his work on the 4th of <br />July float. She stated that $338.00 was raised at the 4th of July Festival <br />booth. Commissioner Davis volunteered to upgrade next year's float entry. <br />Chairperson Joseph thanked staff for their work on the float and the booth. <br />Laura Lipson presented the Commission with windmill cookies as a thank you <br />for the parade float. <br /> <br />-Windmill Project <br />The balance in the Windmill account is currently $2,310.15 and the next <br />meeting of the committee will be on August 8. <br /> <br />-Spinas Park <br />Superintendent Hover reported that a meeting was held this evening with <br />MIG and committee members. The budget for the project was defined and <br />the consultant will go back with this information to help redesign the park. <br />There is a potential for volunteer opportunities on this project and the <br />Commissioners asked about having the Cultural Commission donate a piece <br />of art work to the project. <br /> <br />-Enforcement of Park Rules <br />Superintendents Beth and Hover and Park Manager Valerie Matonis met with <br />representatives from the Police Department to discuss the handling of <br />enforcement of park rules and regulations. The Police Department will be <br />handing out notices to people in our parks who are in violation with park <br />rules and they will be given a warning or citation depending on priorities. <br /> <br />There was discussion about dogs running on the field at Hawes Park and the <br />Police have agreed to address this issue and they will be taking a proactive <br />approach on dogs off leash. Superintendent Hover announced that powered <br />motor scooters are also illegal in all parks and the Police Department will also <br />cite this offense. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - CREATE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT (CCE) <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph announced she contacted the Los Altos Kiwanis Club <br />regarding their annual "Pet Parade".
