<br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2001 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners <br />LaBerge, Truscelli, and Walsh <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Davis, Morton and Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Elizabeth Travers, Julia Mittelstadt, <br />Terry Thom <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Director Corinne Centeno <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the August meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-The Avocet Newsletter of the Santa Clara County Audibon Society was <br />received. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Elizabeth Travers of 27 Lowell Street spoke about Stafford Park and reported <br />that BFI is doing a better job of trash pick-up; reported on a large party at <br />the park who had blow-up items, beer and were from San Carlos; reported <br />that she was at the park last Sunday from 2 :OO-4:00pm and saw no Park <br />staff on duty; reported BBQs were still being brought to the park; signs are <br />missing; and spoke about her desire for a fence along Hopkins Avenue. Staff <br />will get back to Mrs. Travers with her concerns. <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph paused the meeting for a moment of silence for thoughts <br />on September 11. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - DISCUSSION OF $35,000 NON-ELECTION FUND. <br /> <br />Director Centeno explained that $35,000 in funding was allocated for the <br />November election process. Because no election will be held, these funds are <br />now available and the City Council is seeking input for ideas on ways to use <br />these funds. Chairperson Joseph reported she attended a meeting where <br />ideas were solicited from board and commission chairpersons. She <br />
