<br />.. <br /> <br />-'" <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Park & Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of November 28, 2001 <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />ITE M 2 - DOWNTOWN AREA PLAN <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph shared a copy of the Downtown Area Plan document with <br />the Commissioners and felt it was well done. She reviewed the document <br />and noted that the project plan recommends open space/parks in the <br />downtown area which would relate to the Commission. Director Centeno <br />noted that the plan was accepted by the Council and will now be referred to <br />the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - NOMINATION/ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 2002 <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover stated he spoke with the City Clerk's office and <br />confirmed that if the elections are held at the end of the year ,the City's <br />Roster will reflect the correct chairperson and vice chairperson for the <br />following year. Commissioner Davis felt the Commission should continue <br />with its practice of forming a nominating committee consisting of the current <br />and previous chairpersons, who would present the names of the nominees at <br />the next meeting. Chairperson Joseph and Davis will meet and bring the <br />nominations to the December 1 meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - BOARD AND COMMISSION DINNER - DECEMBER 2 <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph reminded the Commissioners of the Boards and <br />Commissions Dinner which will be held on Sunday, December 2 at 5: 30pm at <br />the Fox Theater. Please RSVP to Deanna LaCroix at the City Manager's Office <br />by November 30. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-School Fields <br />Superintendent Hover reported that the grading of Garfield is complete and <br />expected completion date is June/July 2002. He announced that on <br />November 26, the City Council approved the installation of a synthetic sports <br />field surface at Hoover field. A copy of the Council report was provided to the <br />Commissioners. Superintendent Hover stated that staff will be meeting with <br />the consultant on Monday to refine the project scope. The project will go out <br />to bid in mid-February 2002 and the bid should be awarded in mid-March <br />2002. <br /> <br />-Dog Park <br />Superintendent Hover and Chairperson Joseph reported that they attended <br />last night's meeting of the Shore Dogs Group. Superintendent Hover stated <br />that half of the Shore Dogs Park will be converted to decomposed granite and <br />that the Shore Dogs Group would like to donate a portion of the funds for this <br />project.
