<br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of February 27, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />ITEM 8 - RECRUITMENT OF NEW COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover provided applications which could be handed out to <br />prospective Commissioners. Four Commissioners have terms expiring in May <br />2002. He noted that the City Clerk's Office will be handling the application <br />process and a more formal application with cover letter will be available <br />shortly. <br /> <br />Superintendent Beth announced that the League of California Cities will be <br />offering a free Park and Recreation Commissioner Training Workshop on <br />Saturday, June 8 from 8:30am-12:30pm in Burlingame. He agreed to <br />forward additional information to the Commissioners as it becomes available. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Superintendent Hover spoke about Proposition 40 which is on the March 5 <br />ballot, which would provide Redwood City with approximately $654,000 in <br />allocations for park projects. He also spoke about Proposition12 funding of <br />$937,000 which is being used for the Hoover Field Project. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Hover provided the Commissioners with a preliminary list of <br />Capital Improvement Projects and reviewed the status of current projects <br />and new projects. <br /> <br />-The Commissioners were provided with a Commission Chronology for 2000 <br />and 2001 which will assist them in their mentoring program and in reviewing <br />action items. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Hover spoke about the status of the Spinas Park Renovation <br />Project and announced the next meeting will be held on March 13 at 6: OOpm. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Truscelli announced she recently attended the Athena <br />Awards, the Sequoia Awards where Vincent Truscelli was a recipient, and the <br />American Legion Citizen of the Year Award where Janet Borgens received the <br />award. <br /> <br />-Chairperson Joseph stated North Star Academy will be having a park clean- <br />up of Mezes Park on March 9 from 9:30-11:00am. <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was adjourned <br />at 9:15pm to be reconvened at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2002 to <br />be held at the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, <br />Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />
