<br />.. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Minutes of March 27 t 2002 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />:¡ <br /> <br />Spinas Park - Council approved the agreement for design services with MIG on <br />3/25/02. Construction should begin in August or early September. The restroom <br />is being replaced under a separate contract. <br /> <br />Skate Park/Restroom/Concession Stand - Superintendent Hover reported that <br />the project is still on target and that the Bechet restroom was currently under <br />design. Staff recently learned of the need to move a fiber optic line currently <br />within the skate park site. <br /> <br />Maddux Park Dedication, Saturday, May 4th - Commissioners were asked to <br />save the day for this event that will feature a dinosaur theme. <br /> <br />Capital Projects - Superintendent Hover indicated the Council will get its first <br />review of the proposed budget on April 1st. The request is largely the same as <br />reported at last month's meeting. He also commented on the availability of <br />funding from the passage of Proposition 40. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - WINDMill RENOVATION PROJECT <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph reported that $30,000 in seed money for the Windmill <br />Restoration Project was included in the Council Capital Improvement Budget. <br />She hopes that once the Pet Parade is behind the Commission, that efforts can <br />be targeted at this project. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 -IDEAS FOR DOG PARK II <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover commented that in searching for new field locations per <br />the Council priority, another dog park site could be included. There will be an <br />opportunity to seek out interested persons at the Pet Parade event. <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - DISCUSSION OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CALENDAR <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph noted that Commissioners should provide Commissioner <br />Walsh with dates of particular holidays where they would prefer not to have <br />Commission events scheduled. <br /> <br />Commissioner Truscelli announced that the Arbor Day Celebration would be held <br />on April 27th from 2-4 p.m. and that the tree would be planted in honor of Ginny <br />and Pete Hughes. Mike Gibbons is coordinating with the Native Daughters of the <br />Golden West on the event. <br /> <br />
