<br /> <br />'.' . <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of April 24, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the appeal and many Commissioners felt <br />conflicted because of the criteria concerning tree removals in the City <br />ordinance and the property owner's right to improve their property. <br /> <br />MIS Davis/Truscelli: To grant the appeal for 1080 10th Avenue on <br />the condition they plant three trees in their front yard as described. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The following items were taken out of order: <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - WINDMILL RESTORATION COMMITTEE <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph announced the committee will be meeting on May 1 at <br />7: OOpm at the CAB and invited the Commissioners to participate. <br />Commissioners Walsh and Davis volunteered to assist on the project. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - U PDA TES <br /> <br />-Pet Parade <br />Chairperson Joseph reported that 300 people attended the Pet Parade on <br />Saturday, March 30. She thanked Superintendent Hover, Director Centeno, <br />and Commissioners Truscelli and Swope for their help with this event. <br />Members of the Youth Advisory and Teen Advisory Boards also helped out. <br />Superintendent Hover announced there were 90 official pet entries and that <br />$1,400 was raised at the event which was being given to the Shore Dogs <br />Group for the renovation of the Dog Park. It was suggested that a critique of <br />the event be done in preparation for next year's event. <br /> <br />-Hoover and Garfield Fields <br />Superintendent Hover reported that Garfield field is completed and the City <br />will assume responsibility around mid-June and a grand opening will follow. <br />Seven bids were received for the Hoover field project and the award of bid <br />will go to Council on May 6. <br /> <br />-Spinas Park <br />Superintendent Hover reported Spinas Park is in the design phase and a <br />committee meeting will be held in May. <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />-Skate Park <br />Superintendent Beth announced the project has gone out to bid and the bids <br />will be opened on May 15. Ground breaking will be done in June and the <br />project is expected to be 120-150 days in length. Next meeting of the Task <br />Force is May 8 at 7:00pm at Red Morton Center. The group is developing a <br />set of rules and regulations which will be presented to the Commission for <br />their approval. Superintendent Beth reported he attended a meeting today <br />of the Northern California Skate Park Coalition where he received valuable <br />information from other cities in various phases of skate park operation and <br />construction.
