<br />.. <br /> <br />~ Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of June 19, 2002 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - SECOND ANNUAL PET PARADE <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed a date for the 2003 Pet Parade and selected <br />either April 5 or 12 as a possible date. Staff will need to check this date to <br />make sure there is not a conflict with youth sports or other activities. The <br />location of the event will be at Red Morton Park. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - SET DATE FOR BRAINSTORMING SESSION <br /> <br />Chairperson Joseph announced she would like to set a date for a <br />brainstorming session which will inc1ude our newly appointed commissioners. <br />The date selected was Saturday, September 28 with the location to be <br />determined. <br /> <br />~.' <br />( <br />I' <br />,,' <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - 4TH OF JULY FLOAT <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis commented on the informative monthly newsletter <br />produced by Director Centeno. <br /> <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis reported on the status of the float; Chairperson Joseph <br />will coordinate the narrative for the parade announcers and will work with <br />representatives of Shore Dogs to assist on the float. The date to decorate <br />the float will be July 3. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-Hoover and Garfield Fields <br />Superintendent Hover reported that Hoover field is under renovation and the <br />estimated completion date is October 7, 2002. He also reported on the <br />dedication ceremony of Garfield field on June 5 which was well attended. He <br />also reported on break-ins that have occurred recently at Garfield. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />r <br />1';,- <br /> <br />, <br />" <br />, , <br /> <br />-Spinas Park <br />Superintendent Hover announced the preliminary drawings have been <br />returned to MIG for revision and the committee will meet soon to review the <br />final drawings. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />-Skate Park <br />Superintendent Hover reported the project will begin in mid-July and will be <br />completed in Fall 2002. <br /> <br />, <br />~~ <br />',' <br /> <br />-Windmill Renovation <br />Chairperson Joseph stated she is working with John Anagnostou about <br />backing the windmill project. She announced that Adolph Rosencranz has <br />agreed to match Council funding for this project. <br /> <br />
