<br />J <br /> <br />.... <br />t <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2002 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Joseph, Commissioners Davis, <br />Morton, Walsh <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Swope, Truscelli and Yapp <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Emily Roberts, Michael Lunsben, Becky Greene, <br />Roxanne Dragan, Terry Thorn <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Director Corinne Centeno, <br />Superintendent Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Jeri Joseph at 7:30pm in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis requested a correction to the September minutes under <br />Item 4, Pet Parade Organizational Plan. The first sentence should read: <br />"Commissioner Davis felt that staffing of the Pet Parade was not appropriate <br />for the Park and Recreation Commission, that the Commission is a policy <br />making group and is not a group that actually "does" events." <br /> <br />The minutes of the September 25, 2002 meeting were approved as <br />corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />The Commissioners were provided with a copy of the letter mailed out to <br />Stafford Park neighbors about the recommendations of the Interim Park <br />Rules Task Force. <br /> <br />I . <br /> <br />The following items were taken out of order: <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - SPINAS PARK DESIGN REVIEW AND APPROVAL <br /> <br />t <br />¡ <br />I <br />, <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reviewed the proposed design of Spinas Park which <br />includes a new water feature. He noted the Spinas Park Design Committee <br />had approved the design and that the Redwood City Rotary Club has donated <br />$1,000.00 towards the project. Roxanne Dragan, a member of the design <br />committee and a Spinas Park neighbor, spoke in support of the proposed <br />design I Superintendent Hover stated there will be a meeting with the <br />developer of the adjoining Excite@home property to explore the possibility of <br />expanding the park in the future. <br /> <br />
