"'. ~ PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2004 COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Yapp, Commissioners Davis, Joseph, Morton, Truscelli, and Walsh COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope TEEN ADVISORY BOARD PRESENT: None YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD PRESENT: None GUESTS PRESENT: Elizabeth Travers, Jim Peters, Public Works Superintendent Gordon Mann, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Deal, Sean White, Paul Downs, lena Riley, Erin Kimura STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Gary Hover and Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairperson Bob Yapp at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of the February meeting were approved as mailed. CORRESPONDENCE A copy of a letter from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors was provided to Chairperson Yapp inviting him to attend a meeting regarding the formation of a special park district to provide additional support to local park agencies. The meeting will be held on March 29 at 6:00pm at the San Mateo Senior Center. ITEM 1 - TREE APPEAL AT 1 YARNELL PLACE Mr. Coy Deal spoke about his appeal of a heritage tree permit for 1 Yarnell Place. He explained that a 70' pine tree is located at this address but the roots have gone under the fence and onto his property on Hoover Street. The roots are causing his fence to lean and are pushing up the foundation of his work shed. Mr. Deal said he contacted Ruth Schroeder of 1 Yarnell Place last year to advise her of the problems the tree was causing in addition to limbs needing to be pruned around the power lines. Ms. Schroeder applied for a tree permit which was approved by the Public Works Department so that the tree could be pruned and also root pruned.
