<br />I <br /> <br />. <br />,"'"' 4Þ: <br />¡-. .-!"" <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />"'. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2004 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Yapp, Commissioners Davis, <br />Joseph, Morton, Truscelli, and Walsh <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioner Swope <br /> <br />TEEN ADVISORY BOARD PRESENT: None <br /> <br />YOUTH ADVISORY BOARD PRESENT: None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Elizabeth Travers, Jim Peters, Public Works <br />Superintendent Gordon Mann, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Deal, Sean White, Paul <br />Downs, lena Riley, Erin Kimura <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Gary Hover <br />and Chris Beth, Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chairperson Bob Yapp at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the February meeting were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />A copy of a letter from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors was <br />provided to Chairperson Yapp inviting him to attend a meeting regarding the <br />formation of a special park district to provide additional support to local park <br />agencies. The meeting will be held on March 29 at 6:00pm at the San Mateo <br />Senior Center. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - TREE APPEAL AT 1 YARNELL PLACE <br /> <br />Mr. Coy Deal spoke about his appeal of a heritage tree permit for 1 Yarnell <br />Place. He explained that a 70' pine tree is located at this address but the <br />roots have gone under the fence and onto his property on Hoover Street. <br />The roots are causing his fence to lean and are pushing up the foundation of <br />his work shed. Mr. Deal said he contacted Ruth Schroeder of 1 Yarnell Place <br />last year to advise her of the problems the tree was causing in addition to <br />limbs needing to be pruned around the power lines. Ms. Schroeder applied <br />for a tree permit which was approved by the Public Works Department so <br />that the tree could be pruned and also root pruned. Mr. Deal reported Ms. <br />Schroeder had the tree pruned around the power lines but did not have the <br /> <br /> <br />
