Captain Warner mentioned that this <br />area of Redwood City has a very low level of calls for crimes of violence. <br /> <br />Serene Hermann, park neighbor, said she felt the statistics were incorrect <br />because she has called the Police at least six times herself regarding noise <br />disturbances from the CAB, and she felt the Police Department was not <br />always responsive to her calls. Lindley Garner, park neighbor, said he has <br />also called about six times over a 2 year period, agreed the Police <br />Department was not always responsive, and noted that when he calls he <br />normally gets into an argument with the Police dispatcher. Chief Bolanos <br />addressed their concerns and strong encouraged any community member to <br />contact him directly if they do not feel they are receiving the proper level of <br />service from the Police Department. He left his business cards for people to <br />contact him. Chief Bolanos stated that he would be meeting with Director <br />Centeno to determine ways the Police Department could effectively support <br />the Park and Recreation Department as well as make suggestions on possible <br />changes in policy/procedure. <br /> <br />-Public Comment <br />Nelson Fortis - spoke about teen dances at Red Morton Center and <br />problems with teens after the dances have ended <br />Rudy Luca - asked about how building is rented to the public; suggested <br />each function needed to have Police presence <br />Pam McGovern - the need for Police presence until groups outside facility <br />have disbanded <br />Dawna Barnes -mother of teen who attends teen dances at Red Morton has <br />not seen too many Police to support Park & Recreation staff after teen dances <br />have ended <br />Sylviane Morales - wants to have Police at facility when there is a party at <br />night <br />Angelica Valencia - used Red Morton Center as a teen and appreciated the <br />teen dances and activities; suggested having building renters obtain a <br />security guard for their parties; security guard can help remove people from <br />parking lot after party, can look around entire park and call Police if <br />necessary <br />Nancy Anderson - create a City ordinance requiring renters to have security <br />at their events <br />Ella Fitzpatrick - did not hear sirens after shots were fired; asked if sirens <br />were turned off by Police intentionally <br />John Hermann - has called more than 6 times regarding noise disturbances <br />from CAB; has had bottles and cans thrown into his yard by party-goers; <br />suggested that we not let parties continue into the parking lot; obtain <br />security; move people out of parking lot; put chains across parking lot <br />entrances; has observed steady increase of rowdy crowds over past few <br />years <br />Gabriella Simon - asked if under age drinking is allowed with a liquor <br />license. Chief Bolanos replied no; underage drinking is illegal, period. <br /> <br />
