Chief <br />Bolanos stated there is no policy but Police Department removes gang <br />paraphernalia from these sites. <br />Nancy Anderson - asked about gangs in Redwood City <br />Peggy Smullin - asked about geographic area of this Police beat. Chief <br />Bolanos stated this beat is the area between Woodside Road, Jefferson, <br />Valota Road and EI Camino Real. <br />Gato Rivera - asked about some areas of Redwood City receiving more <br />Police response than others <br />Ana Barnes - student at Kennedy School, spoke about wearing gang colors <br />or school colors <br />Doug Hatheway - should have a policy to patrol, asked how frequently <br />Police patrol this area. Chief Bolanos said after incident on April 17, patrols <br />have been increased to prevent further problems <br />Laura Babbitt - asked Chief Bolanos to quantify how patrols have been <br />increased <br />Merrily Robinson - asked if RCPD works with County Sheriff on problems <br />Bill Newell - with City budget crisis, how is level of staffing over past 10 <br />years; does RCPD have enough officers <br />Meghan Gallagher - asked what community can do to prevent further <br />problems. Chief Bolanos replied community can work together on issues in <br />their community- He will be meeting with Director Centeno to discuss ideas <br />such as coordinating Police support at Park and Recreation events, looking at <br />hours of building operation and other subjects. <br />Ralph Criscione - asked about calling "911" for non-emergency situations. <br />Chief Bolanos told the audience to always call 911 regardless of situation. <br />Clara Elizondo, sister of deceased, said she was at the party at CAB on April <br />17 and stated that hard liquor was being served but was hidden under table. <br />She said she told City staff member twice about this and he ignored her <br />response. Director Centeno said that City staff is trained to call Police if hard <br />liquor is observed at any event in a City facility. <br />Dawna Barnes - remove liquor from parties; renters to hire own security; <br />parents should volunteer to help out at teen dances and events. <br />Tina Flynn - felt there was a good Police response to incident; felt this was <br />an isolated incident; there is a need to have a community center; was not in <br />support of a petition to close community center at dusk; should establish a <br />neighborhood watch program in our community; leave community center <br />open; lodge complaints with Park & Recreation Commission. <br />Rudy Luca - suggested investigating renters and having no alcohol allowed <br />in City facilities; hire security for parties, staff people need to have ID <br />Doug Hatheway - prohibit alcohol at parties; shorten rental hours; shorten <br />Saturday rental hour by one hour; increase building deposit; if Police <br />Department is called at an event, renter will loose their deposit <br />
