Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of May 12, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />M/S Swope/Morton: To accept the Strategic Plan with the addition <br />of material provided by the Commissioners this evening including <br />adding a volunteer page in the document. <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - UPDATES <br /> <br />-Pet Parade <br />Commissioner Joseph reported on the successful Pet Parade event on April 3 <br />and estimated the attendance at 500 people and their pets. She spoke about <br />the many activities at the event and thanked the Youth and Teen Advisory <br />Board members, Commissioners and staff members who helped. Chairperson <br />Yapp thanked Commissioner Joseph for all her work on the Pet Parade. <br /> <br />ITEM 7 - 4TH OF JULY PARADE FLOAT <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the 4th of July Parade and decided to enter a <br />float in the parade. Commissioner Joseph will contact City Trees, Youth and <br />Teen Advisory Boards, and Civic Cultural Commission to see if they would <br />like to join us on the float. <br /> <br />ITEM 6 - DISCUSSION OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />CALEN DAR <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover said he likes Commissioner Morton's calendar idea and <br />is looking at converting the Commission calendar to the same format. <br /> <br />The Commissioners requested a copy of the letter which will be sent to <br />neighbors about the May 26 Commission meeting. <br /> <br />ITEMS FOR NEXT MONTH'S AGENDA <br /> <br />May 26 - follow-up meeting to April 28 public hearing, invite Chief Bolanos <br />and update on investigation <br />June - BBQ regulations, results of May public hearing, Court House Plaza <br />update, Police Chief Carlos Bolanos to discuss enforcement of no BBQs, <br />recognition of Commissioners Davis and Walsh; orientation of new <br />commissioners <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Twenty applications were received for the openings on the Park and <br />Recreation Commission; 13 interviews have been scheduled. Appointments <br />will be made in late June. Commissioners Davis and Walsh will be honored at <br />the June Commission meeting. <br />-30th Anniversary Celebration of Fair Oaks Community Center will be held on <br />May 27 from 4:00-7:00pm. <br /> <br /> <br />,.
