night shift duty, as herein defined, shall receive additional compensation in an amount equal to 1% of his basic monthly salary for each month during the period he is so assigned; provided, however, that such additional compensation shall not be included in computations for overtime or other pay differentials. (c) For the purposes of this section a night shift shall be considered to be any duty shift commencing between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. SECTION 4. Each employee of the Police Department who is required to operate a motorcycle shall receive additional com- pensation in an amount equal to 5% of his basic monthly salary for each month during which motorcycle duty is performed by such employee. SECTION 5. Each employee of the Police Department of the rank of police sergeant or below who is assigned to the Inves- tigation Division shall receive additional compensation in an amount equal to 6.5% of his basic monthly salary for each month during the period he is so assigned; provided, however, that each such employee shall not be credited with the uniform maintenance allowance provided under Section 4 of Rule VI of the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of Redwood City during the period of such assignement. SECTION 6. The provisions of the foregoing sections of this ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, if a position allocated to a given class in the competitive service is re- allocated to a different class in order to correct an error or to provide for a change in duties or responsibilities of such position, and there is no change in the incumbent of the position so reallocated, and the maximum salary provided for the position as reallocated is less than the salary received by the incumbent -2-
