<br />classification with a higher salary range than that to which he is <br /> <br />regularly assigned, on a temporary basis but for more than five <br /> <br />shifts, within any period of 12 consecutive months, shall receive, <br /> <br />in addition to his basic salary for such period, compensation in <br /> <br />the amount of 5% of such basic salary for that time worked under <br /> <br />such circumstances in excess of five shifts; provided, however, that <br /> <br />any employee holding a position in one of the above mentioned <br /> <br />classifications who, after January 1, 1974, is so assigned the duties <br /> <br />of a job classification with a higher salary than that to which he <br /> <br />is regularly assigned, shall receive the above mentioned additional <br /> <br />compensation for any time worked under such circumstances commencing <br /> <br />with the first such assignment, if such employee was ever so assigned <br /> <br />prior to January 1,1974, irrespective of the number of shifts. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Each communications dispatcher assigned to <br /> <br />the fire department regularly assigned to night shift duty, as here- <br /> <br />in defined, or to a relief schedule requiring night shift duty, shall <br /> <br />receive additional compensation in an amount equal to 5% of his <br /> <br />basic monthly salary for each month during the period he is so <br /> <br />assigned; provided, however, that such additional compensation shall <br /> <br />not be included in computations for overtime or other pay differentials. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />For the purposes of this section, a night shift shall be <br /> <br />considered to be any duty shift commencing between the hours of <br /> <br />3:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. <br /> <br />SECTION 6. <br /> <br />The provisions of the foregoing sections of this <br /> <br />ordinance to the contrary notwithstanding, if a position allocated <br /> <br />to a given class in the competitive service is reallocated to a <br /> <br />different class in order to correct an error or to provide for a <br /> <br />change in duties or responsibilities of such position, and there is <br /> <br />1706 <br /> <br />-2- <br />
