<br />. <br />, <br /> <br />.. <br />, <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of February 23/ 2005 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - FORMATION OF SUB-COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP <br />RECOMMENDATION FROM YOUTH INFUSION REPORT <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope felt that after reading the reco,mmendation from Youth <br />Infusion that she would like the Commission form a sub-committee to work <br />with staff and develop ways to help the students figure out what they want; <br />what their options are; ways to empower them, and how the Commission can <br />facilitate their involvement. She volunteered to work with staff on this sub- <br />committee. . Commissioner Joseph felt that the students should give the <br />Commission their recommendations and that we ask to be part of their <br />format. Superintendent Beth reported the Teen Advisory Board's website <br />would be operational very soon and that we could use the website's "Forum <br />Format" to get feedback from students. He also mentioned ta'king this <br />conversation back to Recreation Supervisors Jodi Fernandez and Mark Yasuda <br />for their input and feedback. The Commissioners agreed with this suggestion <br />and Superintendent Beth will report at the March meeting. <br /> <br />ITEM 6.- SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />-Update on RC American Little League Batting Cage Permit <br />Superintendent Beth provided the Commissioners with a copy of the draft <br />revocable permit for the Redwood City American Little League batting cage. <br />Once the Little--League representatives have reviewed the draft, it will go to <br />City Council for approval. <br /> <br />.Pet Parade <br />Commissioner Joseph thanked staff for placing advertisements for the Pet <br />Parade in the Spring brochure. She will be meeting with Superintendent <br />Beth to review plans for the event. <br /> <br />.Park Development Ordinance <br />Director Centeno said she met with the Mayor and Vice Mayor and reviewed <br />the idea for a park development ordinance (PDO) and they agreed in <br />concept. Chairperson Yapp and Commissioner Swope are on the PDQ sub- <br />committee which will be meeting to move the proposal forward. A consultant <br />will be needed to assist in the process. <br /> <br />. ,', ITEM 7 - REQUEST FOR COMMISSION VOLUNTEER FOR FLEISHMAN <br />PARK PROJECT <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover spoke about the park renovation project at Fleishman <br />Park and asked for a Commissioner to participate on the renovation subø <br />committee. Commissioners Swope, White and Joseph all volunteered to <br />pa rti ci pate. . <br /> <br />"II. <br />
