Based on the timeline, the ordinance should go to Council in <br />Septe m ber or October. <br /> <br />-Pet Parade <br />Commissioner Joseph reported on the successful Pet Parade held on April 9. <br />Over 400 people attended the event, lots of vendors and 59 entries. Many <br />volunteers including the Youth Advisory Board, Teen Advisory Board, Chris <br />Beth, Gary Hover, Rosemary Fischer, Jeff Filippi and others helped to make it <br />a very fun event. Council Members Pierce and Aguirre were judges at the <br />event. Commissioner Joseph asked that thank you letters be sent to those <br />people who helped out. <br /> <br />-Budget Update ' <br />Director Centeno reported the Department Heads are recommending $1.2 <br />million in reductions to, Council for FY05-06 which is considerably less than <br />last fiscal year. The Council's budget hearing will be held on June 20. <br />Chairperson Yapp attended a public meeting regarding the City's budget and <br />found it very informative. <br /> <br />-Parks for the Future <br />Director Centeno announced the public meetings are currently on hold while <br />the City Managers and the County work, out details of the program. The next. . <br />meeting will be held in May. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 - DISCUSSION OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />, CALENDAR <br /> <br />June 20 - City Council Budget Study Session <br />July 23 - Children's Concert behind Red Morton Center sponsored by our <br />department, Redwood City Mother's Club and Whole Foods <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />-Superintendent Beth spoke about PACT for Kids which was the idea of <br />Senior Building Maintenance Worker Daniel Yee. The event was held on <br />Friday, April 22 and had an Earth Day theme. Sixty Kindergarteners from <br />Hawes School visited six different stations at Red Morton Center to learn <br />about things such as playground safety, putting together irrigation and <br />planting flowers. The event was very successful and was enjoyed by the <br />students. <br /> <br />-Superintendent Beth reported that our adult PACT Program was held on <br />April 14 at Sandpiper Community Center. More than 40 PACT members gave <br />us rave reviews about our presentations and learned about the many things <br />are department does for the community. <br /> <br />-Commissioner Joseph said she was contacted by John Edmonds regarding, <br />the Windmill renovation. He asked that the Commission send a letter to <br /> <br />
