<br />¡ <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of July 27, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - RECOMMENDATIONS ON PARK DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover discussed his staff report regarding recomm'endations <br />to the Park Development Ordinance and the time line for the implementation <br />of the ordinance. He requested that the Commission review this information <br />and vote on the recommendations at their August meeting. Superintendent <br />Hover noted that after the Parkland Standards are approved by the <br />Commission, it will be presented to City Council for approval, and then a <br />Nexus Study will be developed. The Commissioners discussed the timing of <br />ordinance and bringing the item to Council before the election in November. <br /> <br />The following item was taken out of order: <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UPDATES, FLEISHMAN PARK <br /> <br />Peter Vorametsanti of the City's Engineering Department spoke about the <br />renovation of Fleishman Park and provided the Commissioners with a <br />conceptual park plan cost estimate. He noted that we are keeping lots of <br />existing elements in the park design which helps keep the costs down. The' <br />budget for the project is $452,000 and the cost estimate is $480,000, a <br />difference of $28,000. The conceptual design will be presented to the public <br />at the August 6 meeting at Fleishman Park. Park Manager Mike Gibbons has <br />applied to the Stulsaft Foundation for a $45,000 grant for the Fleishman Park <br />project. <br /> <br />Mr. Vorametsanti estimated the construction drawings would be completed <br />by mid-Septemb,er and would go out to bid around the same time; the bid <br />would be awarded in mid-October with construction to begin in November. <br />He estimated the construction would take about 90 days and would be <br />finished in early Spring 2006. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - RECOMMENDED CHANGES TO REDWOOD CITY PARK <br />ORDINANCE <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover reviewed the memo from Director Centeno in addition <br />to Attachments I and II. He noted that Director Centeno asked the <br />Commission to approve the content of the changes and with approval of th~ <br />finalized changes a future date. If the recommendations are approved by the <br />Commission, the next step would be for staff to begin work with the City <br />Attorney on the ordinance revisions. <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed the eight content changes in the memo. <br />Commissioner White asked if the Park Rules Sub-Committee would be <br />involved in the review process. Commissioner Swope asked if the name of <br />the Commission would be changed to Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Commission. <br /> <br />
