<br /> <br />i . <br /> <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission <br />Minutes of July 27, 2005 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />MIS White/Truscelli: To move to accept the recommendations of .. <br />staff regarding the changes to the Redwood City Park Ordinance with <br />an amendment to recommendation #8 to include Park, Recreation <br />and Community Services Commission. . <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - DISCUSSION ON PROPOSED ART AND WINE FESTIVAL. <br /> <br />Commissioner Joseph said she would like to set up a small event in Red. <br />Morton Center in October 2005 featuring a small number of artists. The <br />Commissioners discussed the proposed event, ways to promote it, conflicting. <br />community events and local art and wine festivals during October, the n.eed <br />for more time to plan the event, the need for partnerships to make this event <br />work, and for there to be a lead agency/group for this event. Commissioner <br />Swope suggested speaking with the Cultural Commission regarding this <br />project since it falls within their area of focus. Superintende.nt Beth stated <br />that he does not have any staff available to support this event and. <br />Commissioner Joseph said that no City staff would be used. Commissioners <br />Joseph, Slusser and White will form a sub-committee, with Commissioner <br />Swope as an alt~rnate, who will meet over the next few months to define the <br />Commission's role in this project. . . <br /> <br />ITEM 4 - UPDATES <br />-4TH of July Float . <br />Superintendent Hover reported. that the Commission's float won $1,100 in <br />prize money including the Sally Morrison Sweepstakes and the overall theme <br />at the 4th of July Parade. Commissioner Joseph thanked staff and the. . <br />Commissioners for their work on the float. <br /> <br />-Budget Update. <br />Nothing to report. <br /> <br />-Parks for the Future <br />Chairperson Yapp and Commissioner White were notified of an upcoming <br />meeting for this group by Director Centeno. . <br /> <br />-Community Garden <br />Superintendent Hover reported that the community garden on Johnson <br />Street is awaiting the approval of the SFPUC. Superintendent Beth reported <br />that a $5,000 grant was received for the community garden behind the NFL <br />Alumni Building as well as a donation of 29 cubic yards of topsoil from <br />Lyngso and a grant for recycled timber from Recycle Works of San Mateo <br />County. <br />
