TEEN MANAGER ADILAH <br />HAQQ-SM ITH <br /> <br />This item will be deferred to the October meeting due to Ms. Haqq-Smith . . <br />being ill. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - PARKLAND STANDARDS POLICY REVIEW <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover noted that at the August meeting, th~ Commission <br />approved the parkland standard of 3 acres per 1,000 and that this standard <br />will be presented to the Planning Commission at their October 4 meeting. <br />, Superintendent Hover said that our consultant has suggested that the <br />Commission review the matrix and reclassify and include two park sites in <br />order to get closer to the 3 acre figure. The Commissioners discussed the <br />suggestion and how to reclassify the acreage in question. <br /> <br />M/S Swope/Truscelli: To amend the parkland matrix by adding Lido <br />and Easter Bowl properties and reclassifying them as open space or <br /> <br />, "', <br /> <br />a,nother category that staff deemed appropriate. <br />Motion passed. ' <br /> <br />Chairperson Yapp agreed to repre$ent the Commission at the Planning <br />Commission meeting. ' , , <br /> <br />ITEM 3 - SYNTHETIC TURF CONVERSION PROJECT <br /> <br />City Engineer Peter Vorametsanti announced the City received $5 million as <br />part of the Recycled Water Project, and these funds will pay for conversion of <br />several of the City's grass fields to synthetic fields as a water saving <br />measure. The first conversion will take place from April-May 2006 and will <br />include three fields at Red Morton Park and one at Hawes Park. The second <br />conversion will be from April-May 2007 and will include Sandpiper and Marlin <br />Park fields. Each conversion has a budget of $2.5 million. Mr. Vorametsanti <br />stated that Council has approved Beals Sports Group as the consultant for <br />this project. A meeting was held with user sports groups recently to get their <br />input on the conversion and Vice Chairperson Morton noted the user groups <br />are very supportive of the conversion project and approved the plans in <br />concept. The Commissioners discussed placing lights at some of the fields <br />including Mc Garvey field. It was suggested laying conduit at the fields <br />during the conversion project in preparation for future lighting installation. <br /> <br />M/S Morton/Swope: To approve the concept of the synthetic turf <br />conversion project. <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />
