IREPORT

From the City Manager

July 15, 2002

Subject
Building Moving Permit, 304 Stambaugh Street to 601 Cedar Street

Recommendation
By Motion, approve the Building Moving permit subject to the conditions in Attachment 2.

Background
Peninsula Christian Center has applied for a Building Moving Permit to move a dwelling from 304
Starnbaugh Street to 601 Cedar Street. Redwood City Code Section 9.27 requires a public headng
and a permit from the City Council before the building may be moved. The Council may grant the
permit, impose conditions, or deny the permit. The California Health and Safety Code limits required
code corrections to those necessary to eliminate substandard building conditions.

The subject building is a 1,160 square foot two bedroom, one bath, Queen Anne style cottage
constructed in 1880. The dwelling is on the Redwood City Inventory of Historic Buildings. Senior
Building Inspector Jerry Schnell has conducted an inspection and determined the building to be
structurally sound, without substandard conditions, and in compliance with the Uniform Housing
Code (report- Attachment 1). Planning has granted a variance to locate two detached units (the
subject building plus an existing dwelling) at the proposed location which is zoned R4 (Multi-Family-
Medium Density).

The applicant has submitted the required information, paid the application and inspection fees, and
posted the building and proposed location. The City Clerk will mail the required notices. City staff has
reviewed the application and developed.the recommended conditions (Attachment 2).

Alternatives 1. Impose additional conditions deemed necessary by the Council to protect the public health,
safety, and welfare.
2. Deny the Permit.

Fiscal Impact
There are no future fiscal impacts to the City. The application and inspection fees did not cover the
cost of processing this application.

hn LaT~(rra Bruce Liedstrand Ed Evere~t ~
Building and Inspection Manager Community Development Director City Manager

Attachments 1.
