Other <br /> <br />Tentative Timing / Next Steps: <br />1) By Motion, Council to cause the formation of the Task Force (Oct. 2005). <br />Also provide input to Mayor and City Manager for subsequent steps. <br />2) Council endorsement of final issues regarding the formation of the Task <br />Force, timeline, and the application form / process. (Nov. 2005) <br />3) Preliminary Timeline: <br />. Advertise for and recruit applicants (Dec. 2005 - Jan. 2006) <br />. One month for Council to appoint Task Force members (Jan.-Feb <br />2006) <br />. One month for Task Force to organize itself (Feb-Mar. 2006) <br />. One month for the Task Force to hire its consultant (March 2006) <br />. Five months for analysis and to write up recommendations (April <br />through August, 2006) <br />. The Task Force must provide the Council with its <br />report/recommendations by the end of August, 2006. <br /> <br />In the Meantime: <br />1. Staff will continue providing basic tree maintenance services, such as <br />pruning, inspections and private property tree permit processing <br />2. Tree planting projects with the CityTrees organization will continue <br />3. Sidewalk repair will continue but in situations where root pruning would occur, <br />staff and city contractors will use a new, poured-in-place rubberized sidewalk <br />material. This pilot effort, in concert with the prior trial use of rubberized <br />panels, will provide the Task Force with real-time information on two new <br />alternative materials. <br /> <br />3 of3 <br />
