Council Member Foust - announced two events coming up, the Arts and Olive <br />Festival at Canada College from 1-4 p.m. on October 3 and the "Save the Music <br />event", from 11-5 p.m. on October 2. <br /> <br />G. Council Member Aguirre - stated that on September 25, a delegation of 8 from <br />Zhuhai, China was in Redwood City where she participated in a lunch and was <br />presented a gift that she gave for the City's collection. She also mentioned that <br />she spent the weekend in Oakland for the Daimler Chrysler California Latino <br />Caucus Institute for Elected Officials Leadership Training. She stated that it was <br />a wonderful training institute that serves all elected officials and she offered the <br />materials she brought from the training as references and resources. <br /> <br />H. Mayor Ira - stated that as follow-up on the Gang Task Force, there have been <br />three evictions of gang members from apartments in Redwood City. Secondly, he <br />announced that P.G.& E. has entered into an agreement with all national wireless <br />service providers to allow placement on their antennas on all P.G. & E. <br />transmission towers. <br /> <br />I. Vice Mayor Pierce - announced that the League of California Cities is holding <br />the annual conference in San Francisco on October 5-8 in San Francisco. <br /> <br />10. ADJOURNMENT-11:45 p.m. <br /> <br />MIS Hartnett/Howard to adjourn until the next Joint Study Session of the City Council, <br />Planning Commission and Architectural Review Committee of October 3, 2005. <br /> <br />Council Member Hartnett requested adjournment in honor of former Mayor Carl <br />Britschgi. He stated that while growing up in Redwood City, he had the opportunity to <br />meet Carl Britschgi who died on September 12 at the age of 93. He served on the <br />City Council for 10 years with one term as Mayor; represented Redwood City in the <br />State Assembly for 14 years; is a graduate of Sequoia Hospital and Santa Clara <br />University where he was a member of the football team; was a member of the <br />precursor team to the S.F. 4gers serving as quarterback; longtime supporter of Santa <br />Clara University and Redwood City - so much that he had a son, Brent, who also <br />became Council Member and Mayor. His legacy lives on and he will be missed by <br />not only his family, but the entire community of Redwood City. <br /> <br />Council Member Howard requested adjournment in honor of Pete Uccelli who <br />developed Pete's Harbor, fighting and winning a David and Goliath battle with the <br />State in the 1980's died on Thursday, September 22 in Los Angeles at the age of 84. <br />He was a gregarious man, widely known in Redwood City, an active community <br />member and generous donor to local causes.
