Park and Recreation Commission Page 2 <br />Minutes of October 26, 2005 <br />The Commissioners asked questions and were especially interested in the <br />After School Program and ways to address the waitlist of children for the <br />program. <br /> <br />Manager Haqq announced the “Halloween Spooktakular” will be held this <br />Saturday, October 29 from 11:00am-3:00pm at the Red Morton Center. This <br />event is designed for ages 0-10 and the cost is $5.00 and she invited <br />everyone to attend. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 – REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF FLEISHMAN PARK PLANS <br /> <br />Engineer Peter Vorametsanti provided 80% design plans for Fleishman Park <br />to the Commissioners. He stated that comments made at the September <br />meeting were incorporated into the design. The Commissioners made <br />several suggestions and comments and Director Centeno suggested that Mr. <br />Vorametsanti work with a Commission representative on the additional <br />design ideas. One of the Fleishman Park neighbors was in the audience and <br />he commented that he received relatively short notice about tonight’s <br />meeting. Superintendent Hover suggested bringing back the revised plans to <br />the November meeting and notifying the Fleishman Park neighbors about <br />that meeting. Mr. Vorametsanti said the project will go to bid after the <br />beginning of January 2006. <br /> <br />ITEM 3 – WOODSIDE ROAD MEDIAN RENOVATION <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover provided a color plan of the Woodside Road median <br />renovation project to the Commissioners as a result of questions at the <br />October meeting. Mr. Vorametsanti announced the bid opening for this <br />project is November 30, with construction to start in January and planting to <br />be done in April. <br /> <br />ITEM 4 – RECEIVE ANNUAL REPORT AND SET DATE FOR STUDY <br />SESSION <br /> <br />Director Centeno presented a draft copy of the department’s Annual Report <br />to the Commissioners. She asked the Commission to review the document <br />and it will be discussed at the Commission’s Study Session. <br /> <br />ITEM 5 – COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />-Change Date of November meeting <br />Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Commissioners decided to move their <br />November meeting from November 23 to November 30. The focus of this <br />meeting will be the Study Session and Review/Approval of Annual Report. <br /> <br />It was also decided that a separate neighborhood meeting be held on <br />November 16 at the Community Activities Building where the community <br />would be invited to finalize the design of Fleishman Park.
