<br />by the City and that Redwood City has been very poor about taking care of the <br />trees. <br /> <br />Gerald Nagel stated that Mary Brown is correct and has photographs of the tree <br />situation. He explained the root cutting that has occurred and that now rather than <br />a root system on four sides, there is a root system on two sides and some of the <br />planting strips are only 3-4 feet wide. Before anything else is done, he asked that <br />the City make sure there are no more roots cut on the sidewalk side in order to <br />prevent the trees from falling over. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Consideration to support the formation of a task force as outlined conceptually in <br />the memorandum dated October 19, 2005. Council commented and agreed that <br />the task force concept move forward; adding the revision to page 2, <br />recommendation no: 2 to read: "If the Task Force cannot reach a consensus <br />recommendation then the Council will make the decisions without such <br />recommendation" . <br /> <br />E. Parking Advisory Committee <br /> <br />City Manager Everett explained that while working with the parking facilities <br />agreement it became apparent that it is time to pull together the parking advisory <br />committee. At the same time, the developer expressed the same desire. The <br />committee will consider and advise on the downtown parking standards; <br />standards, criteria and findings needed for allowing variances and other <br />exceptions; and other issues as determined by the City. The agreement identifies <br />representation from various groups. <br /> <br />Mayor Ira stated that he is prepared to make appointments as long as Council <br />agrees. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />MIS BainlPierce to grant the Mayor the authority to appoint the Parking Advisory <br />Committee. The motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. <br />MINUTE ORDER 05-217 <br /> <br />F. Council Member Howard - stated that there was a successful clean-up effort in <br />conjunction with the Pride & Beautification Committee and neighborhood <br />associations on Saturday, October 22 of several neighborhoods. She thanked City <br />staff for working with the committee and the co-chairs, SMC Credit Union, Norcal <br />Waste Systems and BFt.
