A
comprehensive update on the entire CIP will be provided on April 23, when staff will seek
Council direction on updating the five-year CIP.
Facilities
A significant project for FY 2017-18 is the Facilities Condition Assessment Study. Staff
are currently reviewing final facility assessment reports from the consultant. Preliminary
findings show that although most City facilities are in good or fair condition, additional
funding of $750,000 to $800,000 is needed each fiscal year over the five-year forecast in
order to address immediate facility concerns.
Improvements to the Downtown Library are underway, with three new book drops
installed in July 2017 (two at the Downtown Library and one at Fair Oaks Library). Design
for upgrading the computer lab at the Downtown Library is anticipated for the second
quarter of 2018, with construction beginning in the third quarter. The Fair Oaks Library
expansion, funded in partnership with the County of San Mateo and the Redwood City
Library Foundation, is under construction and expected to be complete by June 2018.
