CI'I~ OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> NOTICE OF PUBLI~ HEARIN~ <br /> LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS <br /> <br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Redwood City will hold a public <br />hearing on the expenditure of $64,982 in Local Law Enforcement Block Grant <br />funds for which the City will receive. The Omnibus Appropriations Act authorized <br />the Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance to make funds available to units <br />of local government under the Local Law Enforcement Block Grants (LLEBG) <br />program for the purposes of reducing crime and improving public safety. Funds <br />must be used for one or more of the following seven proposed areas: <br /> <br /> Law Enforcement Support: Hire, train additional officers, pay overtime to law <br /> enforcement officers, or procure equipment related to law enforcement <br /> functions. <br /> <br /> · Enhance security measures in and around schools or other facilities location <br /> considered a special risk for incidents of crime <br /> <br /> · Establish or support drug courts. <br /> <br /> · Enhance the adjudication of cases involving violent offenders, including cases <br /> involving Violent juvenile offenders. <br /> <br /> · Establishing a multi-jurisdictional task force to work with federal law <br /> enforcement to prevent and control crime. <br /> <br /> · Establish crime prevention programs to control, detect, or investigate crime or <br /> the prosecution of criminals. <br /> <br /> · Defray the cost of indemnification insurance for law enforcement officers. <br /> <br />It will be the recommendation of the Police Chief to dedicate the funds to the <br />procurement of law enforcement related equipment and training. <br /> <br />You have the right to comment on the proposed expenditure at a public hearing <br />to be held on the 5th day of August 2002, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, <br />1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City California. Testimony must either be given <br />in person at he time of the public hearing or received, in writing, by the police <br />department prior to the date of the hearing.
