Cleanout <br />PublicSewerMain <br />Edge of pavement orback of sidewalk <br />Street <br />Private <br />Building Lateral <br />IndoorPlumbing <br />The City has prepared these brief instructions to help you <br />minimize the impacts and loss due to a backup in your home. <br />o Do not attempt to clean the area yourself, let the cleaning <br />& restoration company handle this. <br />o Keep people & pets away from the affected area(s). <br />o Do not remove items from the area, the cleaning firm will <br />do this for you. <br />o If you had recent plumbing work done, contact your plumber <br />or contractor & inform them of the incident, immediately. <br />o If you intend to file a claim, do so as soon as practical. <br />California Government Code, requires the filing of a <br />written claim and outlines specific timelines & procedures <br />that must be used for a claim to receive consideration. <br />The sanitary sewer lateral cleanout near the sidewalk belongs <br />to the property owner. This cleanout must be accessible <br />and properly maintained by the property owner in order for <br />the City to service the sanitary sewer lateral line from the <br />cleanout to the main in the street.
