If adopted, this ordinance will be effective 30 days from this action, and establishes a
new local minimum wage increase beginning in January 1, 2019.

ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may consider the following alternatives:

1. Adopt the ordinance with changes
2. Do not adopt the ordinance

FISCAL IMPACT
Increasing the minimum wage to $15.00 as required by this ordinance would have an
estimated cost impact to the City of approximately $530,000 annually including
adjustments to wages for certain classifications and a $30,000 contract for third party
enforcement.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under CEQA as defined in CEQA Guidelines, Section15378,
because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or a reasonably foreseeable
indirect physical change in the environment. In the event that the Ordinance is found to
be a project under CEQA, it is subject to the CEQA exemption contained in CEQA
Guidelines section 15061(b)(3) because it can be seen with certainty to have no
possibility of having a significant effect on the environment.

ALEX KHOJIKIAN
DEPUTY CITY MANAGER

Effective Date City of Redwood City
January 1, 2019 $13.50
January 1, 2020 $15.00 + CPI
January 1, 2021 + CPI
January 1, 2022 + CPI
January 1, 2023 + CPI
City of Redwood City Minimum Wage
6.3.A. - Page 2
