FIXED COMPRESSOR FILL STATION
FACILITIES
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Several years ago RCFD identified the need to replace worn and aging Self
Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). The new SCBA’s are 5500 PSI
cylinders which are not compatible with the existing fill stations. This
creates a risk for the firefighters as they have no resource available to refill
cylinders following incidents or training. The new fill station will provide
firefighters with the ability to refill cylinders safely in equipment that
complies with the most current NFPA and OSHA standards.

The Fire Department applied for grant funding for the Fixed Compressor
Fill Station. We will know by next month if funding is needed from the CIP
for this project.

PROJECT BENEFITS
It is critical to faster rescue, effective fire attacks, and quicker knockdown that all firefighters wear SCBA’s with high
quality breathable air during all operations of a fire.
Offer a higher level of protection to our community.
Using a fixed fill station is the safest means to refill bottles following training or structure fires and this system uses
the latest standards.
PROJECT STATUS

PROJECT SCHEDULE

Planning Design Construction
07/2018 09/2018 10/2018 11/2018 12/2018 06/2019

PROJECT ESTIMATES
REQUESTED BUDGET 5 – Year Future
FUND 2018/19 2019/20 2020/21 2021/22 2022/23 Total Years
357 $72,000 $0 $0 $0 $0 $72,000

Total $72,000 $0 $0 $0 $0 $72,000

9.A - Page 48
