REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />May 21, 2018 <br /> <br />SUBJECT <br />Adoption of an Ordinance establishing the Mixed Use Waterfront Zoning District to the <br />Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, Adoption of an Ordinance Amending the Zoning Map <br />to rezone the property at 1548 Maple Street to Mixed Use Waterfront, and Adoption of <br />an Ordinance Approving a Development Agreement between the City of Redwood City <br />and Strada Investment Group <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Waive the Second Reading and adopt (1) an Ordinance establishing the Mixed Use <br />Waterfront Zoning District to the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance, (2) an Ordinance <br />amending the Zoning Map to rezone the property at 1548 Maple Street to Mixed Use <br />Waterfront, and (3) an Ordinance Approving a Development Agreement between the <br />City of Redwood City and Strada Investment Group <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Planning Commission held a public hearing on this item on April 17, 2018 and <br />recommended that the City Council adopt the Mixed Use Waterfront Ordinance, Amend the <br />Zoning Map to rezone the property at 1548 Maple Street project to Mixed Use Waterfront <br />Zoning District, Adopt the Ordinance approving the Development Agreement and <br />recommended approval of the project entitlements. <br /> <br />On May 7, 2018, following a public hearing, the City Council waived the first reading and <br />introduced an ordinance establishing the Mixed Use Waterfront Zoning District to the <br />Redwood City Zoning Ordinance. The City Council also introduced an ordinance to amend <br />the Zoning Map to rezone the property at 1548 Maple Street to Mixed Use Waterfront and <br />introduced an ordinance approving a Development Agreement between the City of Redwood <br />City and Strada Investment Group. The City Council also certified the Final EIR and approved <br />the entitlements for the 1548 Maple Street project (131 Townhomes). The staff report from the <br />May 7, 2018 City Council meeting is attached. <br /> <br />ANALYSIS <br />Mixed Use Waterfront District <br />The new Mixed Use Waterfront (MUW) district has been prepared to be consistent with the <br />Mixed Use Waterfront neighborhood General Plan land use designation. There were no <br />changes to the Mixed Use Waterfront Zoning District Ordinance as Introduced at the May 7, <br />2018 City Council meeting.
