Automati c Fire Sprinklers I Standpipe Systems - The proposed building <br />is re quire d to be equipped with an automatic fire sprinkler system and a <br />standpipe system with connections in stairwells and the roof meeting NFPA <br />Standard 13. Provide plans and hydraulic calculations for the design of the <br />systems. <br /> <br />60. Fire Department Connect i ons -FDC's to the fire sprinkler I stand pipe <br />systems shall be located at the fire access side of the buildings within 50 feet <br />of a Fire Hydrant. <br /> <br />61. Fire Alarm System Required -UL Central Station fully add ressable fire alarm <br />system is required meeting NFPA 72. Provide plan s and voltage drop <br />calculations for the design of these systems. <br /> <br />62. Premises Identification (Address Numbers) - Indicate on the plans where <br />the premises identification (address) will be located and the size (minimum I <br />2") in a contrasting background facing the street from which the building takes <br />the address CFC 505. <br /> <br />63. Portable Fire Extinguishers Required - Portable fire extinguishers, with a <br />minimum classification of 2A: I OBC are required to be permanently installed in <br />all buildings in the common areas within 50 feet of travel from all portions <br />of the building in compliance with NFPA 10 and CFC 906. <br /> <br />64. Fire Apparatus Access: <br />a. As the proposed structure exceeds 30 feet in height, at least two means <br />of fire apparatus access shall be provided CFC D 104.1. <br />b. As the proposed structure exceeds 62,000 square feet in area, two <br />separate and approved fire apparatus access roads are required CFC D <br />104.2. <br />c. The width of the required fire apparatus access roads shall be a minimum <br />of 26 feet to accommodate aerial apparatus D 105.2. And have an <br />unobstructed vertical clearance of not less than 13 feet 6 inches 503.2.1. <br />The plans indicate trees and landscaping encroaching on the fire access <br />lane. The plans also indicate that removable bollards are proposed to be <br />used on the North and South fire access lanes. Removable bollards are <br />not approved to be used on fire access lanes. <br />d. Fire apparatus access roads shall be designed and maintained to support <br />the imposed loads of fire apparatus and shall be surfaced so as to <br />provide all weather driving capabilities 503.2.3. Grasspave or DG does not <br />meet this requirement. <br />e. At least one of the required access routes meeting this condition shall be <br />located within a minimum of 15 feet and a maximum of 30 feet from the <br />7.B. - Page 43
