· January 17, 2018: This kick-off open house-style event included a gallery walk,
information stations, and interactive “Idea Tree” and direct questions and answers
with City staff, YMCA executives, and ELS Architecture and Urban Design team
members. Over 200 people attended.

· January 31, 2018: Nearly 200 people attended this interactive workshop that
included a presentation, break-out tables, and discussion about project opportunities
and constraints. Each table shared summaries with the entire audience.

· February 22, 2018: Approximately 125 people attended a presentation regarding the
summary comments over the last two workshops, how comments are influencing
design guidelines, identification of critical features/programs, parking concepts, site
plans, and conceptual building layout and design. Attendees were broken out into
groups and graded each design area, developed further feedback, and reported out.

Participants expressed appreciation for the inclusion of a separate traffic study and
engagement process, as well as updates to the plans, program, and design in response
to individual comments and feedback at the prior workshops.

Participants in the workshops expressed appreciation that the scope/scale of the Project
has been reduced to 80,000 square feet (45,000 sq. ft. for the Veterans Memorial
Senior Center, and 35,000 sq. ft. for the YMCA); the original CEQA Notice of
Preparation enabled the City to study a total of 130,000 square feet of new building and
a potential parking garage. Currently, the Veterans Memorial Senior Center, the Old
49er Building, the Resource/Gift Shop building, Herkner Pool complex, and the NFL
Alumni building together occupy 40,960 sq. ft. The total new proposed square footage
of the two buildings is 39,040 sq. ft. At this time, a parking garage is not a part of the
overall conceptual plan.

Comments from participants were wide-ranging, but many expressed support for design
renderings, new facilities, and appreciation for the parallel, deliberate traffic planning
process announced at the meeting (including a series of three upcoming meetings that
are specifically traffic related).

· Parallel Traffic Study and Engagement: Neighbors stated they felt heard and
agreed the engagement of traffic and planning expert Dan Burton of Blue Zones
was a critical and positive step forward in the effort to manage traffic and parking
at the site.

8.A. - Page 5
