This is a classic NIMBY stalling tactic and, lacking any better reasons, should not be an <br />acceptable reason to delay the project. <br />R 5, There is a group of grumpy boomers, sitting on >$1M in housing equity who think we should <br />freeze time in 1985. They subscribe to the Thanos school of urban development. Rather than make <br />room, it's better to just eliminate half the people. They are wrong. <br />+6 5 env appeals rarely have anything to do w the environment <br />+6 5 This is near to as good as we're going to get for new housing in Redwood City. Walking distance <br />to downtown and the train, near 101, next to other apartments, away from single family home <br />neighborhoods, high density, includes affordable units. Yes it could always be better in theory... but in <br />practice this is pretty darn good. <br />+s 5 we need the housing. Redwood city is not crowded. We need more housing and better urban <br />planning <br />+s 5 - this seems like an ideal location for new housing and would be great for downtown businesses <br />+5 4 Rents are high. More supply will bring down rents. This includes affordable housing. It's the <br />same height as its neighbors. What's not to love? <br />+3 5 Redwood City desperately needs housing- especially affordable housing. I wish this weren't so <br />close to the other recent construction near Brewster/veterans which has adversely affected parking <br />in the area. But being on the other side of veterans helps, I think, and so does being close to the <br />freeway... <br />+3 5 1 don't believe City Council knows the definition of "affordable" housing. Generational and senior <br />families are being pushed out. They shouldn't promise what they don't comprehend. <br />+s 5 Strongly support. Rents are extremly high in Redwood City and families are getting pushed out. <br />We need more housing so the market can balance out the demand. It's sad and disgusting to see run <br />down 1 bedroom apartments going for $2,500.
