Belmont <br />17 <br />Belmont adopted in January 2017 a new affordable housing fee program following its participation in a coalition with <br />San Mateo County and other cities called "21 Elements." Starting on March 11, 2017, new residential for -sale projects of <br />25 or more units must set aside at least 15 percent of the units on-site for moderate income households. Smaller for - <br />sale projects may build the units or pay an impact fee set at $20 per sq. ft. Rental developments will pay the fee.
