San Jose <br />The San Jose City Council expanded its inclusionary ordinance in late 2017 to include rental residential developments <br />following the passage of a new state law that allowed it. As a result, starting Jan. 1, 2018, all rental projects with 20 or <br />more units were subject to the inclusionary housing ordinance which requires developers to set aside as affordable 15 <br />percent of the project's total units. Or the developer may comply through an alternative means such payment of an in - <br />lieu fee but the equivalent percentage increases to 20 percent. San Leandro _ <br />San Leandro has joined other Alameda County jurisdictions in a joint affordable housing nexus fee study through the <br />Silicon Valley Community Foundation. Under the proposal, San Leandro will contribute $32,000 toward the Keyser <br />Marston Associates nexus analysis — required to adopt an affordable housing impact fee — which would be managed by <br />the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
