<br />EXHIBIT A <br /> <br />THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />STOREFRONT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br />PROGRAM GUIDELINES <br /> <br />I. INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Storefront Improvement Program is designed to stimulate building <br />improvements and upgrade the appearance of commercial properties in the <br />Downtown Redwood City Redevelopment Area. The storefront reimbursement <br />are provided in recognition of the extremely valuable impact these <br />investments have on the vitality of downtown Redwood City. The objective <br />of this program is to promote joint public/private action and investment <br />which will complement and enhance downtown revitalization efforts. All <br />storefront improvements must be cons i stent with the Des i gn Gu i de 1 i nes <br />establ ished for the downtown area. Storefront reimbursement will be funded <br />with Community Development Block Grant funds initially and by other funds <br />when available. <br /> <br />These Program Guidelines have been developed to present the basic elements <br />of the Storefront Improvement Program with specifi c emphas is on the <br />eligibility criteria for applicants, types of improvements and reimbursable <br />expenditures. Detail s of the necessary document at i on for processi ng grants <br />under this program are outlined in the procedural steps. <br /> <br />II. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS/AREA <br /> <br />A. Aool icants <br /> <br />Owners and tenants of commercial property are eligible to <br />apply for assistance. Tenants are required to provide <br />documentation of the property owner's consent to the <br />improvements at the time of initial application. Written <br />consent may either be in the form of a lease indicating the <br />1 easee' s authority for property renovation and repair or <br />written documentation of the property owner's agreement to the <br />proposed rehabilitation. <br /> <br />B. Eliqible Area <br /> <br />Properties which are zoned commercial which are located in the <br />downtown Redwood City area. (See Attachment A for map of <br />eligible area.) The area of operation of the program will be <br />determined by Council action. <br /> <br />III. REIMBURSEMENT GRANT AMOUNT <br /> <br />Approved property owners and merchants who install at least $500 in <br />improvements per storefront are eligible for reimbursement of up to <br />50% of the costs up to $5,000 upon completion of the improvements. <br /> <br />11272 <br />
