4.

Sta~e Four: Construction Document Review
Documents will be prepared and submitted during the construction
document phase of this contract. See Part Two, Phase V - Construction
Documents.
Sta~e Five: Construction Period and Project Completion Review
Specific issues associated with this review are to be part of the on-going
construction and project close out phase of this contract. See Part Two,
Phase VII - Construction Administration.

5.

E.

The Design Review Package to be prepared for the Redwood City Architectural
Review Committee (ARC) will be identical to the Redwood Shores Owner's
Association NCC, Stage Three Application Packet. The Design Team will be
available for one public presentation.

F.

Develop one preliminary cost opinion of probable construction cost based upon
approved design direction.

G.

Meet with Redwood City Project Team on a bi-weekly basis throughout this
phase of the project for a total of four times. This represents meetings continuing
from August 29, 1996 through October 10, 1996. Each meeting will be budgeted
for 2 hours each, inclusive of any travel from our office.

H.

Conduct a full geotechnical evaluation of the proposed project site based upon the
following scope of work as prepared by Lowney Associates, Inc.

Geotechnical Engineer's Project Description
1. We understand that the project is to consist of the construction of a new
fire station and maintenance building on the approximately 2 acre site.
The fire station is to be one-story with approximately 5,000 square feet of
floor space; the "pre-engineered" maintenance building is to encompass a
footprint of approximately 2,500 square feet. While no preliminary
grading plans are available, we anticipate that only minor grading will be
required for this relatively flat site. We understand that driven pile or
shallow foundation systems may be considered for support of the
buildings. Asphaltic and Portland Cement concrete driveway and parking
areas are planned as well as associated underground utilities.
Anticipated Foundation Desi¡pl: Our local experience and review of
boring logs from previous geotechnical investigations performed in the
vicinity indicate that the site is likely blanketed by 3 to 4 feet of fill
underlain by 30 to 35 feet of highly compressible Bay Mud. The Bay
Mud is underlain by stiff to very stiff clayey alluvial deposits extending to
depths greater than 500 feet, with occasional strata of sand or gravel.

2.
