6.1.D. - Page 1 REPORT To the Honorable Mayor and City Council From the City Manager June 11, 2018 SUBJECT Professional Services Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. for on-call, transportation planning and engineering services RECOMMENDATION By motion, approve, and authorize City Manager to execute an agreement for Professional Services with Kimley-Horn in the amount of $500,000 for on-call transportation planning and engineering services BACKGROUND Following a statement of qualifications process to establish a list of qualified consultants, Kimley Horn was designated as qualified for on-call work for the City. At the January 26, 2015 meeting, the City Council approved the execution of professional services agreements with Kimley-Horn to perform on-call civil/transportation engineering services. The City Council approved Amendment No. 1 (time -scope -fee amendment) to the original agreement at its July 25, 2016. Monthly expenditures under the contract varied widely depending on the scope of work underway at a given time, but averaged $12,000. Kimley-Horn has been performing successfully on a variety of projects, however the original agreement expired. Staff recommends that the City continue working with Kimley-Horn on ongoing projects and to work with them on future projects as needed. ANALYSIS For their previous professional services agreement, Kimley-Horn was issued task orders to complete various activities in support of City transportation projects, including: • Design services for the Safe Routes to School Implementation Project at five Redwood City School District elementary schools, • Design services for the Kennedy Safe Routes to Schools project, including intersection modifications at the intersection of Alameda de las Pulgas and Goodwin, • Evaluation of the Farm Hill Boulevard Pilot Project,
